I agree with you. Over the last year it seems people are printing PLA hotter and hotter and wondering why they are having issues such as stringing!blackbird2016 wrote:Hey guys.greybeard wrote:The Temp 245º is fine. I print PLA at 240º to 245º - it's my default temp for PLA.
Use supports.
I do not want to come off topic here, but honestly...
It is pretty ok if this works for your setup and the readings of the specific sensors of specific printers, things to be printed and stuff.
But to claim 240° normal and default for PLA could really mislead people.
I too have some high temp PLA here but it is rather about its glass transition temperature and not about the print temperature.
These are temperatures fairly ok for PETG and depending on the setup at the lower end for ABS.
I really would like to see a decent "Benchy" or a "Marvin" printed with standart "over the counter" PLA at 240° or even 245°.
No offence indented...
Most of my "regular" PLA I do at 195 to 205. I know that the Raptor PLA is a different animal and it seems Makergeeks "regular" PLA will actually print at 230-235.
If I try my other mainstream PLA's at 230 it cooks it.
I think inexperienced users are giving bad advice on temps (and other things) because they have been given bad advice like "if your PLA won't stick, just keep jacking the temp up until it does."
Ok, I'll stop going off topic also!!
