Re: New printer : BCN3D Sigma

Please find attached my updated profiles.

Do not hesitate to share to the community your tweeks on this profiles

PS: I didn't find anymore the perfect settings for Ngen. I still have bad layer adhesion issue... I'm working with Colorfab Lab to find the right settings.

Re: New printer : BCN3D Sigma

Keep in mind that the dual extrusion profiles are work in progress...

I've got some issues with the prime of the second extruder.

Re: New printer : BCN3D Sigma

Thanks Zorgonaute84 for sharing the profiles.

Some BCN3D Sigma related questions:
1. What is the optimal layer height for your Z axis?
This usually depends on the rod used for the Z-axis:
http://prusaprinters.org/calculator/
It's not M8 (1.25).
2. In your shared S3D profiles you are using only 1mm retraction instead of 4mm (bcn3d cura default).
Any reason for this? What is your experience here?
3. Question especially for dual color printing.
What is the best setting (based on experience) for Z-hop while travel after retracting?
BCN3D cura default here is 0,05mm but i personally think that higher value should avoid to damage perimater while travelling.
Any experience here?

Seems to be really good forum here.
Good to know that some Sigma users are online here.

Re: New printer : BCN3D Sigma

1. I'm printing mainly at 0,1mm, I never calculated any optimal layer height, it's just for me the best compromise between speed and quality.

2. No, in my profiles I retract 8mm at 100mm/s

3. For the moment I have more issue to fix with dual color and S3D before trying to optimize the z-hop. But with Cura and in mymemory I used 0,05 too. It is enough to not damage the perimeter.

Re: New printer : BCN3D Sigma

I have modified the BCN3D printbed model from the cura version to be used for S3D.
With the modified STL the visualisation looks like "inside the BCN3D Sigma".

You need to select the STL in the S3D menu like this:
Tools => Options => Machine (Printer Models => Add << select STL >> )

Re: New printer : BCN3D Sigma

Hi all, I am very interested about this printer. I have heard that the printer is very noisy. Do you have some information for me?

Thanks

Re: New printer : BCN3D Sigma

Yes, the printer is a little bit more noisy as an Ultimaker. Bug I have do some tricks to reduce significantly the noise. You find my tips on the BCN3D Github forum, section "Sigma Firmware"

Re: New printer : BCN3D Sigma

Talking about Sigma noise, I would ask you about specific noise of Y axis.

My first Sigma printer was noisy, but after some hours of print, I could hear a special "clicking noise" from Y axis on some specific positions. The problem was getting worst print after print. I decided to bring my printer back to factory. BCN3D changed mechanical parts (pulleys and bearings). After this repair, my machine was quieter without this special noise. Fantastic...

... but not for a long time : after 10 hours of print, this "click" sound has came back. BCN3D decided to change my printer for a brand new one. And now just out of box of my second Sigma, problem occurs from start. The crazy clicking noise.

Here's a video of the problem :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azQ1ui_xhMc

I guess that problem will be worst print after print like my first printer. BCN3D service is fantastic, but the problem is still here. Printer si inside my house and my family started to hate my night prints with this permanent clicking noise.

Some of you encountered this problem ?
