Re: Speed - mm/minute? Why not mm/sec?

All that's proposed is that S3D have the _option_ to enter speeds in mm/sec, consistent with pretty much every other 3d printing app, and let users enter speed in the units that they're used to.

If some users want to use mm/min, that's fine, too.

The request, which has tons of posts of support, is simply that in the one field where users enter speed for an extruder, they have a control which lets them pick between mm/sec and mm/min, and if the setting is mm/sec, that S3D multiplies the number by 60 when generating gcode.

That's all there is to it.

So please stop inventing weird scenarios that don't make any sense. There's no conversion back and forth, gcode doesn't change, there's no affect on precision, or anything else weird that you imagine. If a dozen other apps, used by nearly everyone doing 3D printing, can figure out how to multiply by 60, I am sure that S3D can as well.

Baron's concern about starting/ending scripts is definitely valid. Might be confusing for people to enter all speeds in mm/s, but then convert everything to mm/min when modifying their scripts

Right, that's why it would be an _option_. People that hand-code gcode move commands and want to think in mm/min could still do so. And people who don't, and want to think in mm/sec could do so, instead of having to multiply/divide by 60.

This feature was added in version 2.2. You can toggle between mm/s and mm/min by going to tools > options, and changing the "Speed Display Units" at the top. Note if you're on a Mac, you get there by going to Simplify3D > Preferences.
