Remove first layer outer most wall path

Hello Simplify3d Team!

I am trying to find a way to get rid of the first-layer-smoosh-out effect. Basically you need the first layer to smoosh alittle so you get good adhesion to the bed but the smooshing causes the first layer to overhang by .25 to .5 mm beyond the demensions of the model. This causes you to either use a tool to remove the overhang which messes up the look of the part or just deal with it.

I am requesting the ability to remove the outer most wall path on the first layer only. This will allow me to over extrude just alittle for good infill and bed adhesion without the overhang.

I'm going to try and to this myself in the gcode to test but I think it will help alot of people!

Have you tried using a single layer process for your first layer and using horizontal size compensation in the other tab to adjust for the added width of the smoosh?

I have completely re-tuned my first layer. I've tried to offset my z axis and I tried to lower my extruder multiplier both of which caused my prints to get worse in other areas.

I printed a couple test pieces where I deleted the outer perimeter on the first layer and they came out perfect! Great smoosh and adhesion on the first layer and absolutely no over hang on the part.

I will have to keep editing my gcode so I really hope we get this feature! I think alot of people deal with this but they just tend to use an exacto knife or edge tool to remove the excess. Why do that when a remedy is probably really easy.

In the other tab, you can use negative horizontal size compensation in half the width of your first layer extrusion width in order to move the first layer's perimeters inward by the amount of a full extrusion width. In the case of needing 0.5mm to be removed you would set horizontal size compensation to -0.25mm.
