I think it would be useful to have more presets for materials then just 4. Most people can't print nylon, and most people probably shouldn't print with pva. A drop down style selector would be nice with the ability to create you own presets. There are many new materials available now, t-glase PET+ PETG XT, 618 and the likes

If you Export your FFF profile and open it with a text-editor you can make your own custom configurable presets in a text-editor. I've done this with Ninjaflex for one of my printers and I like it very much. The FFF profiles are in XML, which is not very hard to configure, I highly recommend it.

Yeah you can add as many as you want. It would be nice to put them in a pull down perhaps instead. After 6 or 7 the dialog starts to become less usable.

Thanks for the xml tip. Another branch of this 3d printing rabbit hole to wander down in my spare time.

Wow that was easy. I will list the few steps 1 took for this.

1) Edit process settings -> export . I saved a testprofile name

2) open saved file with notpad

3) scroll down untill you see the <auto configure materials>

4) since i will never print with PVA ( it is glue after all) i just changed the name to PET, and adjusted the temps and extrusion multiplier

5) I wanted to add a 5th material, I highlighted a complete section of material and copied, changed name, temps, and multiplier. 6) restarted s3d, and profited

This is great!

It'd be nice to have this exposed in the GUI to make the process more obvious and less fragile, of course.

As of version 3.0, this can now easily be done through the GUI. Just click the "+" button beside the material drop down list and enter the name of your new material.
