I have a print that travels a bit to get to a support, lay out that support and then go back to the inner wall of the print. I have s3d set to always retract when crossing open spaces. It does this on the way to the support but will not retract when returning to the print which is leading to missing filament by the time the print head crosses to open space to continue with the part. All the strings in the picture are coming from the support due to no retraction. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

No I hadn't seen that, it didn't come up in my search for an answer, I will give that a try, thanks so much. It sounds like it is a bug that hasn't been squashed yet. Thanks

You should try the new 3.1.0 version. They mentioned a few things about better retraction control, so this may have been fixed now.

It appears this ("Only retract when crossing open spaces") may still be an issue even in 3.1.1. I noticed zits on the outside of a model and I watched the printing live and noticed the travel path for the support material was causing these. There's no retract as it transitions from one set of support to another. See attached GCode if your interested in the details. The offending support material is the mound that is inside of the model. The travel is from the right most model to the left. The zits end up being on the left model, front right (in reference to looking at the build plate).
