Quality issue not solved

Hi,

I have a issue printing PLA parts not solved by setting up Bondtech extruders and E3D V6 hotness + appropriate calibration on my Mankati Full-scale XT plus.

I have some blobs at the beginning of each perimeter, so accordingly with the guidelines, I have introduced some changes in the retraction with -0.02 extra restart distance, then -0.04 and -0.06. I have also tried the default setting in S3D 3.0 for my printer -0,13.

I have no effect on the blobs, but if I go over -0.06 on a part with many retractions I have holes at the beginning of the perimeter. And on a small part with more retractions, -0.02 is the max.

Nevertheless, I haven't managed to fix my issue working on that parameter.

Experts advices much appreciated

David

Yes, that was the first thing done. The tip is to tweak the extra restart distance if it's at the beginning of the perimeter.

I've done it with no success, or with some side effects.

I've thought about the coasting parameter, to release pressure in the hotend but it's the purpose of the retraction.

I have -4.5 retraction at 50mm/s. I can't go over that length otherwise I'll definitely block my hot end.

I have -4.5 retraction at 50mm/s.
Retraction should be a +ve value!

Could you attach your factory file to a post so we can see exactly what settings you have. File==>>Save factory file.

Yes you are right. It is currently 4.50.

Here's the factory file. I don't use the process "Process 1". I have two processes for the part, to improve the quality of the hand.

Hi,

Any help appreciated on this topic !

I have done other prints with the same parameters, except the extra retraction set to 0, but with no changes.

Is it linked to the fact that I'm starting by the outer perimeter ?

Thanks for your support

David

David,

I was having blobs that looked exactly like the ones in your pictures a few days ago. Then I read the link posted by CompoundCarl, and I tried something I found there: Enabling the FFF Settings -> Advanced -> Perform Retraction During Wipe Movement. (Wipe Nozzle must also be enabled for this to work).

That fixed my blobs issue

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your feedback. I'll try your tweak.

In the meantime, I have managed to get rid of the blobs using the Inside -> Outside perimeters printing instead of starting by the outer perimeter.

I know that it's a workaround, as the blob is now on the internal perimeter, but it works.
