Ooze control (retraction distance etc.) should be a material option.
For ABS I need almost no retraction (0.5mm) but for PLA 1 ~ 1.5mm is a must.
So when I change the retraction distance for ABS, this should not change the retraction distance for other materials.

For me this is a must - I keep getting confused when options change for a different material.
The only work-around I found for this is to create different machines for the different materials I used - that way the retraction setting is kept with the material (machine).

This is because the auto-configure options aren't always consistent from one profile to the next, and there's no feedback in the program about what is saved where. DarthRevan wrote up a good post about how to edit what is saved under each autoconfigure here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5977
