[SOLVED] empty gcode files being generated

any slicing generates a completely blank 0kb gcode file. i re-downloaded 4.0 and reinstalled, same issue. Factory files that have 10 stls in them, the stls do not show up in the preview when selected. Please advise. Thanks. I had used 4.0 successfully and s3d for years, but took a 3-4 week break while the printer was down.

Click "Edit Process Settings" and then choose the "Select Models" button in the lower left. Make sure all of your models are selected.
Also check and make sure the start and stop at height options on the Advanced tab are disabled.
You could also try going to Help > Reset All Settings if you want to go back to stock configuration

Thanks for the reply, this is not a model selection issue, it happens even with a new factory file with only one stl in it, that model is automatically selected normally. I have confirmed the model start and end height checkboxes are cleared, and in any case this happens with all factory files tried new or old. Also note, there is not even the startup code in the gcode file, In the past if the model was outside the printable range I at least got the start and end scripts in the gcode. something is amiss..
I also downloaded and installed V4.0 over the old v4.0 installation, no change. maybe I should delete the old install and reinstall?

There are no processes in your factory file. The STL also appears to be missing. Maybe you can post your FFF file and the STL file separately.

Ok, I closed and reopened the factory file. it still has two stl files and one process in it as far as I can see in the app. I reattached the factory fil.
Screenshot of what I am seeing in preview to follow.

There's something very, very wrong here! The factory file you have attached both times appears to be the same file....and at only 247 bytes long, it doesn't have anything in it!
Please do this:
1) Load the stl files you want to print
2) Add a process ...ideally the process you want to print with
S3D should look EXACTY like the screenshot you have just posted
3) Now...save the factory file...using Save Factory File as
4) Attach the newly saved factory file to a post.

Ok, went to file/New, added a couple of stl's, confirmed process1 was applied, preview window shows the slice. still a 0kb gcode output. saved factory file as test.factory
went back and opened the first factory file attached above- it has one of the stl's in the model list, but preview is blank and the second STL isn't even in the list. The models are not saving in the factory file. the process wasn't saved either- do you have to have a model to have a process?
reopened test.factory attached here and found the same result- one model in list, nothing in preview, second model not in list, no process saved.
I have a dual extruder printer T0 / T1, have used for years, could that be something? I have not done any dual extruder setup , I just set up one process for one extruder T0 to get past this issue. Normally if you are single extruder it is tool 0 and the heat bed is tool 2, if that's the way ramps/marlin is set up (which mine is).
Thanks for any and all help!

I think your installation may be corrupt. The second factory file had exactly the same result....no process, no shape except for the name....and its only 253 bytes in size!!
Attached is one of my factory files....much bigger at 41kB.
I think you may need to uninstall and reinstall S3D.....
