Hello,
first I would like to say that I really like the update 3.0 and it has a lot of very good features. Especially the honeycomb and the new dual extrusion features give a lot of extra value to the software.
On my first test prints I noticed some things that I would like to speak about though.
1. I imported my fff-profile and adjusted it a little bit more using the update button after modifying thinking it would safe the modifications. After I closed Simplify it lost all configurations including which printer I use and my fff-profile. When I configured all again and imported my fff-profile again I saw that the modifications have not been saved to the profile. The date in the windows explorer implies the same, as far as I can see when I press update it does not save the changes to the fff-profile.
2. When I wanted to “save as” my profile to make sure my modifications will be saved in a new profile since the update button does not work I noticed that I cannot choose the place where to safe the profile. Furthermore I could not find the new profile in the windows explorer. Does anyone knows where Simplify saves those profiles? I am using a network drive to save all data external so I would like to save as well my profiles there
3. While trying to print with two extruders, one for support and one for the rest, I noticed that it prints the first layer then the first and the second support layer and then the second and third object layer and so on. That leads to the problem that the support, with a horizontal separation of 0.15mm which was enough in the 2.2.2 version, overlaps strongly with the object outlines. At the moment I need at least 0.65mm of horizontal separation in order to prevent the lines from touching. In my opinion it would be necessary that, as I think it was before in 2.2.2, first the support is printed and then the layer for the whole print. Did this change with the new version or am I missing an option which I did not set correctly?
4. I noticed that there is no retraction between the skirt and the outlines, is this correct? Did this change with the new version or am I missing an option which I did not set correctly?
5. When the tool head changes on the prime tower it creates a huge blob since it looks like it is extruding a lot of filament before starting with the prime tower. Is there an option where I can define what happens when the tool head changes and it starts with the prime tower? I already tried the tool change scripts where it originally retracts 4mm, changes tool head, and extrudes 4mm to 0.2mm extrusion but it seemed to have no influence. Is there another option to this behavior?
6. When I wanted to move the print head to the back with the machine control panel I put a y-axis value that was two high and the printer did not stop at the end but continued to try to move in the y-axis direction where the printer has no end switch. I am not sure if this is new or it was in 2.2.2 the same but I thought that depending on the build dimensions in the settings it is not possible to exceed these?
Is anyone else experiencing these behaviors with 3.0?
Kind regards
Carlos
