Is it normal for Simplify3D to go into a "not responding" state when it is saving your toolpaths to disk and there are a lot of scripts involved? I have a CubePro Trio that I am creating gcode for and the larger the file I am slicing, the longer the program hangs before it finally created the .gcode file. I have attached my factory file that has a 3 color chess rook. When I press the "save toolpath to disk" it takes 10-15 minutes to create the file and all the while the program is frozen in the "Not Respnding" state. It ultimately frees up and creates the file, but I just wonder if this is to be expected. It seems to me there there should be a progress bar or something. When I printed a taller file, it literally took an hour and 45 minutes to free up. "Not Responding" would lead most to believe that the program has crashed.
no that is not normal. the s3d slicer is lightning fast. it will always take longer the larger and more complex the model but the average slice should take 5-20sec. large and complex maybe a min. not sure what the issue could be there. i have not heard of anyone else complain of this. it might be a question to ask support. send them an email.
Well if it was a large gcode file, I wouldn't be surprised at all. You're running a lot of post-processing commands and I believe those are only run when exporting the file. I bet the {TOOLXREPLACE} ones take a while to convert through the whole file.
sorry, why i thought the title was slow slicing is beyond me. your scripts are slow and i really have no input on that since i have never really used that feature of s3d.
I raised this with tech support and it looks like they were able to reproduce this. This is being send to development to look at. At the very least the hope is to have a progress bar added instead of "Not Responding" for minutes up to several hours, depending on the size of the job.
