External Layer Seperation

Hey there,

At my work we have just built our own Rostock running an E3D Kraken Quad Nozzle and an Azteeg X3 Pro as the controller board. We are also using simplify3D for the slicing of our parts. After a while spent calibrating the machine, we are now running some trial prints.

However, we are getting very small separation between the outside/perimeter shell, and I have attached a photo to show to problem. I am sure that this problem can be overcome by changing some slicing settings and was wondering if anyone could point us in the right direction. I have a hunch it could be to do with the extrusion width, extrusion multiplier etc but I am unsure since I am still relatively new to 3D printing and simplify3D. So far I have made sure it is nothing to do with cooling as I have a 30 second minimum time on each layer. It would be great to hear what other people think is the problem.

Re: External Layer Seperation

I would recommend increasing your Extrusion Multiplier. It looks like Simplify3D is generating a tool-path based on a certain extrusion width and layer height, but not enough filament is coming out which is leading to these gaps. Increasing the amount of filament that comes out should prevent gaps.
