Large objects not opening..

I am new to S3D, been using Cura for a few years.

I have some models which I designed and I know fit on my build plate. They are not oriented correctly in my CAD but that never botherd me before as I simply opened the STL in cura and then re orientated it.

In S3D it won't allow me (or doesn't appear to) load files that are outside the build plate. Is this correct or do I need a different setting somewhere?? I just get "can't auto arrange, largest part exceeds build dimensions"

The STL files in question open fine in Cura..

Many thanks

Re: Large objects not opening..

Try unchecking the "Auto arrange..." option on the models tab of the Options (in Tools) and then see if you can load the file.

Re: Large objects not opening..

Thanks, I tired that but no joy.

The problem seems to be as its to big for the build plate in the XY, it scales in as 9999mm!?

As said in Cura it opens and then I rotate it and it fits fine.

Can anyone else open a object thats too large for the build plate and then scale it/rotate it to make it fit the build plate?

Cheers

Re: Large objects not opening..

I open big models all the time and then scale them down in the software. Works fine here.

Can you post your STL file?

Re: Large objects not opening..

is there a way to adjust the size of the build plate in the software to match the dimensions of the flashforge creator pro build plate?

Re: Large objects not opening..

Just go to Help > Configuration Assistant, and then select the FlashForge Creator Pro from the list. Then everything is configured automatically.

if i'm choosing to use one extruder do i choose Flashforge creator pro or creator pro single, or does it matter? When using dual extruders do i choose creator pro dual. Little confusing.

Re: Large objects not opening..

If you purchased the creator pro, then choose "FlashForge Creator Pro". It will then download the settings for that machine, which include options for printing with the right extruder only, left extruder only, or both extruders. So after you finish the wizard, click "Edit Process Settings" on the left and then you can choose the appropriate "Auto Configure Extruder" option (in your case, you want to configure for right or left extruder only if you are only using one nozzle).
