Software connection failure during print

Hiya,

I have raised this issue before.

During a print the communication freezes and the print fails. I am not sure what it is but I now have a Ultimaker 2+ and it happens with that printer too as it did with my Wanhao.

I am not sure if it's something to do with windows 10 64 bit or if there is some settings to do with the COMM port that I haven't seen yet.

are there any ideas out there ?

regards

Re: Software connection failure during print

This is a known issue with Windows 10. See this (and other threads) on the subject:

I think the last report from approx. a week ago was that there's no solution yet.

Re: Software connection failure during print

I'm having the same issue with my FF Pro as well. I've been using this software for just a week, and will have my FF just go crazy in the middle of a print. I've used Makerbot Desktop, and ReplicatorG using USB, and never had a USB print issue when using them.

I'm running Windows 10 as well, so I don't think it's a Windows issue, as two other free applications work just fine. I've been printed with my SD Card, but would love to see this issue resolved beings I paid a hefty price for it .

And I still not had any problems with usb serial communications and Windows 10.
Isn't that strange?

What's your hardware configuration?? Desktop/laptop, num of USB ports, etc. There must be some unique permutation you have that does not suffer the issue!!

Re: Software connection failure during print

This issue is printer and/or driver specific. My FlashForge Creator Pro has the issue, my Solidoodle3 does not. Both connected to the same computer. I hope there is a fix coming for this soon. I dislike printing via SD card.

I have a Dell Alienware laptop model 2014. 4 USB ports, printing on a USB2.0 port at 115200 baud serial. Have turned off the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" I think that did the trick long time ago.
My windows is a clean Windows10 install, and added the Dell drivers afterwards. Maybe the Dell USB drivers or hardware are different and don't have this issue?
I have a zonestar P802 reprap clone and a Wanhao Duplicator 4S

Re: Software connection failure during print

Hi everyone!
I had problems with usb connection / print freeze errors with my Printrbot Simple Metal. No software fixes helped in win10, firmware or other..
My fix was to change usb cable to a shorter one. No errors anymore.
Now i run my machine with an Octoprint server (Raspberry Pi) with just a short usb cable. All works fine.

Re: Software connection failure during print

I have had this problem on some computers and not others with various USB devices. it only seemed to affect devices that were in constant communications. I replaced the computer after it burned out, and the problem vanished. some of the work laptops do it and others don't. I think its just a windows/machine specific thing and there isn't much you can do about it.
