Can See Model Detail in Print

I am having trouble with models I design. I can see the underlying structure I built the STL file with, the circles, lines, rectangles, etc. I am using Fusion 360 for design.

I'm not sure where to start, but thought I'd toss it out here to see if anyone has ideas...

Below is an image from Simplify 3D with a part rendered. The part was created with two side-by-side circles and a connecting line across the top and bottom. You can see the path the 3d printer takes and the final part shows this underlying structure rather than a continuous surface.

Any tips?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I don't know exactly what you mean...
Use a rectilinear Infill if you want a flat surface.

Re: Can See Model Detail in Print

I've downloaded several models from Thingiverse that were kinda like you described. All of the basic building blocks of the model were there and when Simplify3D sliced it for printing, you could see the parts of the shapes that were supposed to be "inside" the model. The models did not print well and often times fell apart easily.

To fix the models, I created a new project in tinkercad.com, imported the stl, and then exported it. Sometimes I imported it and scaled it to 200%, then export it, and scale the final stl again to 50%get the correct size.

The only way you're going to be able to get across the issues you believe you are having will be to attach a factory file for one of the models you are having problems with....otherwise you're not going to get advice that is useful.

File dropdown menu ==>Save factory file.
