Support generation depends on model location

I noticed that when I go to generate manual support, then generate support from the dialog box, the support changes when I move the model. I can ctl-click the model, move it a few MM and re-generate the support and get a completely different support pattern.
Some locations generate good support, others not so good.... if all locations created good support it would be well... good!
Thanks

I've noticed the same thing when printing more than one of the same part. Each part has different support even though they are identical.

Re: Support generation depends on model location

festus, you probably know this but if your going to do that, set up a single model, manually define the support you want then in the models tab choose duplicate model. it will ask you if you want to duplicate the support as well. then all your models will be the same.

Re: Support generation depends on model location

Jimc,
Yup. But it is interesting how the support behaves. I can only assume that the support follows a grid (that is defined by the support resolution). My guess would be that if you moved the model based on multiples of the support resolution the support would generate the same way.
