"5D firmware" setting problem on ramps 1.4/Marlin

I'm using a custom build printer with a 0.8mm nozzle on a dyzend/dyzextruder running Marlin firmware on a ramps 1.4 board. Having 5D firmware enabled causes all axes to move in a skipping manner and the extruder is too high from the build platform. Without this enabled the movements are fine, but there's no extrusion and the extruder is still too high. Printing with gcode from slic3r runs fine. Anyone else encountered this?

If you don't have 5D enabled, then it won't put any E-values in the gcode. Most printers require that to know how much plastic to extrude.

As for why your printer can't handle E-values, I have no idea.. sounds like a firmware problem..
