It happened when I first started using the new version, then it stopped. It just started doing it again. I click Begin Printing Over USB, the file uploads, then my printer reboots. Firmware is 1.0.3.
Noticed the same thing tonight. Had a small pendant I was trying to print. One copy printed fine so I tried printing eight which is about the max the bed will hold. Sent the data ok but the printer immediately rebooted. Tried printing four copies but no go. Same with three. Tried two and that worked, so I'm wondering if there's an issue with the amount of gcode being transferred?
Hope this can get fixed as I've got 40+ copies to print.
Never had an issue with earlier versions, with much larger prints.
I am having the exact same issue with the Da Vinci 2.0A. In my case, today is my first time to use this software as I just purchased. I tried different com port, different baud rates, reinstalled the driver for the printer, tried a different cable, as well as many other things. I see the below as a troubleshooting technique mentioned for the Da Vinci 1.0, but it does not work.
My Printer Reboots During Upload
If you experience this, please turn off the da Vinci printer and close the Simplify3D Software. Re-open the software, turn the printer back on, and retry the file transmission. Newer firmware releases by XYZprinting have greatly reduced the likelihood of this problem, so you may also wish to update to the latest version.
I emailed them, and if fixed quickly I will keep software, but if not I at least have the ability to return since in the return window.
which operating system are you running? I have a friend who has a da vinci and he has found 100% success on his Mac by mimicking the EOL characters used by Windows. In short try this if you're encountering this with Mac:
in the scripts tab, in post processing under the prepend script, put in:
{REPLACE "\n" "\r\n"}
This also happen to me with my 2.0A with 2.1 firmware on Windows 10.
In my case it only affects two files, one of which is : http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:702433 .
Maybe anyone else with the problem can try this file ? So at least we would know if it is a file related matter.
I went back to version 3.02 and was able to print all eight copies of the pendant I was working on in one go. So in my case at least I don't believe it's the model itself.
I'm on the latest insider build of Windows 10. Not currently at home, but I can reinstall 3.1 later and get the factory file if that would be helpful - or possibly get a copy w/ version 3.02 then one with 3.1 for comparison.
I was experiencing the same issue. Worked fine in 3.0.2, but using 3.1.0 rebooted the printer right at the end of the upload process. Last week, there was an update to XYZware (which also contained new drivers). After upgrading XYZWare and then rebooting my computer I can print using 3.1.0.
Symptoms: Printing two copies of a model causes a reboot after upload and no subsequent attempt to print. Removing one copy of the model allows the printer to work normally.
Printing more than one copy seems to be the only thing that triggers the behavior for me.
Going to try updating the DaVinci firmware and giving it another shot.
