Support Error

On multiple models if I have support turned on S3D will hang up on "Looking for Overhangs" it will stay there for hours, I have left it to see if it would actually continue. After a while S3D will be at 100% CPU (8 core AMD 4.2ghz if I recall) and will be using multiple gigs (I have 16gigs total). Maybe a memory leak?

This error does not occur with support turned off, it still occurs if I do manual placed support. The files have all been run through Netfabb and are manifold. Sometimes with more basic models I can get it to work If i leave the part on the bed as the way it was when imported. Ive adjusted dense support from 5 layers to 3 still locks up. Ive seen this error under a search, but haven't found an answer on how to fix it.

Also I hope an update is in the works because looking at this page it looks like others are having many more issues than I.

Re: Support Error

great to see no response or acknowledgement of this issue, starting to doubt the future of this software.

This is a user forum. If you want to talk with their developers directly then you have to contact them: https://www.simplify3d.com/contact-us/

Re: Support Error

No need. I see where their loyalties are, I figured out a fix, without changing the model, proving even more that it is a software issue. I will begrudgingly share it, since the developers unlike other modern companies and nearly all companies in this sector will respond and talk to their users (in this case customers.)

for those wondering, instead of using transform gizmo to rotate and translate on highly complex models, just double click and change the numbers randomly. After his arrange items on bed. or have the items in the exact position you want in cad.
