Prints to the side instead of center

I just bought the software yesterday and played with it last night. I have a new PowerSpec Ultra from microcenter and the software that comes with it is extremely basic and I need more control so I could use PETG. Well the results are simply amazing with PETG and Simplify3D! Awesome software! The only issue I cant seem to figure out is why my prints are off to the left instead of in the center of the bed? I am brand new to 3D printing and I am learning quickly but this issue I cant seem figure out. I am using the powerspec ultra preset.

Re: Prints to the side instead of center

Well I would say the answer probably depends on how much the error is. If you're just talking about 10mm or so, then that's pretty small and may even be intentional since some machines have things like cooling fans that actually prevent them from reaching the true absolute edge of the build plate.

If the error is bigger than that, then I would be worried that there's something wrong with the printer firmware. I know it's definitely possible to have the printer setup with the wrong origin location (bad homing offsets), which causes these types of problems.

But if you want to learn more about the S3D settings, I found this post really useful: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/faq/#faq-4616

Re: Prints to the side instead of center

What printer did you select in S3D? You may be able to check in the slicer that came with the printer to see what the build plate size is and what offset they use then check the same in S3D. Also it could be the difference between a profile for a single extruder printer vs. a dual extruder printer.

If the printer is a real new model maybe they don't have an exact profile yet so you might have to adjust the one that is the best fit.

You could email S3D support and ask them. Sometimes they have profiles they haven't "officially" released but may be able to get you something to help.

The slicer that came with it is PowerPrint and is pretty basic. But that software has the print bed slightly larger. I dont see any offset settings in that software.

They have a powerspec ultra profile for this printer and it prints ok just everything prints to the left side. The only way i could find to get the left extruder to print center in simplify3d is to go into fff settings then G-Code and set the global g code offsets X-Axis to 50. That makes the left extruder print in the center of the bed. After doing that it prints center but on my first print that is still going right now the print looks like it is leaning a little to the left which is really weird.

If I cant get the issues sorted soon I am going to have to ask for a refund under the 2 week refund period they give. The stock software prints beautifully but gives you no control over extrusion, retraction etc etc.

So you're saying it's 50mm away from the center?? I know people using that same printer that haven't had to make any changes, so you might want to try going to Help > Configuration Assistant, and re-downloading the powerspec ultra profile

Hey prostreetcamaro,

I came looking for another issue and found your post at the top of the forums. I have the same printer and have encountered the exact same issue. For more information on it, you can review my old post here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5926&p=25724#p25724

Long story short, it just seems to be an issue with our printer. The S3D actually does have an X axis offset of 34mm programmed in for the left toolhead (Tool 1). Sometimes I can get it to work right, and sometimes not. I just started printing everything on the right toolhead to resolve the issue. If you ever figure it out, I'd love to know what you did.

If you just got this printer, then you likely still have the blower only on the left toolhead, so this might not sound like a decent option. Here's what you do:
1) Print this fan duct (There are plenty of fan duct options, but this is BY FAR the best one): http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:537918
2) Print this mod to allow you to use #1 without cutting wires or soldering your board and voiding your warranty during step #1: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1753983
3) Print this duct because it's much easier to print than the duct in #2: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2014177

If you'd like to see more excellent upgrades for your PowerSpec Ultra, check out my list here: http://www.thingiverse.com/Jack_Dark/co ... des/page:1

I hope this helps.
