Help me get better quality on 0.5mm walls!

Hello all. I'm trying to lower my wall size from 0.6mm that I normally use and looks great, down to 0.5mm wall size. I included a photo and my factory file, which normally will have 2 processes, one is the base, and one is the thin 0.5mm wall.

I'm using the same settings and as you can see by the picture, the quality is far worse on the 0.5mm wall. I've tried to adjust a few things but no success yet. Any pro's around that would be able to help? Thanks

Re: Help me get better quality on 0.5mm walls!

1st:
Every filament is different from an other and it needs to test out all settings when changing.

2nd:
You are using 2 processes,
P1 for the base with ExtrusionWidth 0.40 mm and
P2 for the circle with ExtrusionWidth <Auto> that will say 0.48 mm

The different settings of the multiplier (0.9 / 0.91) may be still ok, but this settings are strictly depending from the real diameter of the filament, you must do messures with a micrometer screw. With the multi you can vary the masse of extruded filament.

For printing the 0.50 wall it is better to set also 0.50 ExtrusionWidth, with a 0.40 mm nozzle no problem.

In tab Layer you have set 2 perimeters (each 0.48) while S3D doesn't use them when the wall is only 0.50 width; the best will be the Vase-mode or in tab Advanced "Merge all outlines ..."

You have not set any "Wait ... " for the temperatures of the heatbed and nozzle (T0) ???

Re: Help me get better quality on 0.5mm walls!

Ok so, a few changes. And I believe you were looking at the wrong tool, I'm using the Right extruder for the process and it should have had a 0.4mm manual set extrusion.

But anyway, I've read another guys topic on this forum after I posted. I was able to get a even thinner, 0.45mm (Really I got down to 0.42mm, but the quality was BAD when the layers were being changed.) working pretty well. The only issue I have with it, is when it stops at the very end of the print. The last few MM on the print, are just not as filled of a line. And there is a blob right when the extruder stops and pulls up left. I'll include a photo and factory if you have any ideas. I'd love if you had a chat messenger like Telegram or something, do you Horst? Other than the very last couple seconds, I think I can make this work out.

Re: Help me get better quality on 0.5mm walls!

No, that was the right tool for the 1st process

setting 0,40 mm nozzel
ExtrusionWEidth to "Auto" = 120% from nozzle = 0,48 mm

and for the 2nd process

setting 0,40 mm nozzle
ExtrusionWidth to "Manual" 0,44 mm

BUT !!!

You haven't determined the procecces in the tab Advanced with STOP and START for each . P1 must be stoped and P2 must be started.
Also the whole object will be printed with the first process

0,44 is also wrong as 0,48 mm EW for a 0.50 wall.

Tomorrow more advices.

Thanks

PS:

You have attached the new factory twice time, but it seems to be the same.

Also this factory shows no Stop / Start - values in Tab Advanced, therefore the whole object will be printed as P1

The first object you have shown is an inconstistend construction, will say, the wall thickness is variable. That seems better in the new example so we can discute about it.
I'm sorry but I have only eMail but when you need urgent a solution, we can go to PM here. I'm living in Western Europe that makes UTC +2 (winter UTC +1) and now we are near 11 pm

Re: Help me get better quality on 0.5mm walls!

Yes, indeed I havn't realized that the entire object has 3 independent parts and everyone is selected to its own process. Therefore it isn't necessary to set Start/Stopp values, when the positioning of the parts is exellent done and there are no gaps or intersection excist between them.
Im sorry for this error!
