Automatically Increase Infill percent below a top layer

Hi,

I am making some fairly complex parts for some projects (currently modifying a laser printer to print onto a PCB blank).

So it has surfaces at various heights, and pockets for springs and such. I like your triangle infill, but I really need to bump up the percentage, when I have a small cylinder hole, where the bottom needs to be solid. With the infill slo low, there's nothing to support it.

Yes, it occurred to me that I could use a different process at different levels to handle this.

But I wanted to present you with this thought. It could be simple or hard.

For example, if I have top layer set for 4 layers and regular infill set to 20%.

When you go to slice, when you see that you have a portion of the print, which will be a top layer, you automatically increase the infill percent to X for a defined Y number of layers. Then once you get past that surface, then drop back to the previous infill percentage.

The downside of this, is that the infill percentage would be used for the entire project. So if you have something with a large surface area, that's a lot of additional infill for nothing. (this would be akin to using different processes for different layer heights)

What would be really slick, would be for you see the geometry of the area, which will result in being a surface. So if I have a 10mm diameter shaft, which will hold a rod, and this is the top surface at the bottom of that hole, you take the Y layers below, increase to X percent infill, for an areas just under that surface. So if you have a 10mm diameter, you makes a 20mm diameter (yeah squares and rectangles would probably make better sent), and increase the infill just to that area of the print, so you don't increase infill for the entire length.

I'm just realizing that part of my print quality issues are due to lack of support directly under small geometries. This would be an awesome fix to that.

Thanks.

Similar to other requests, but still +1

I believe I saw something similar in Cura - but the changes aren't smooth. It does work pretty well.
