I had been using the CodeX encoder for a while with my CubePro Duo on firmware version 1.2 with no issues beyond what tweaking print settings would fix, printing primarily with ABS. I had an application where we needed something a little stronger and I checked and saw that there was a new Nylon material available from 3DS and figured I'd give it a shot. When I put the cartridge in, the printer told me to use it I had to upgrade the firmware to the latest version. I was leery of doing this since everything was working pretty well but others at our company were just starting to see some benefit to 3D printing and I wanted to try to make the Nylon tool happen. I updated the firmware to 2.00 and now when I try to print with newly created files (using the same Simplify3D software and same CodeX encoder) it tells me the file format is invalid. Files created with the same software prior to the firmware update still print fine, but files created afterward, again, using the SAME software, don't. I don't really understand how that's possible since the code it reads from the old file would be the same as the code it reads from the new files since the file generation method hasn't changed at all. The only thing that has changed is the firmware reading and using the files so why would the reader differentiate between two different files that were created with the same process based solely on the date they were generated? Is anyone else having this issue or does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might try? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've had tons of times with other printers where a firmware update completely bricked the machine or rendered old print files completely useless. So from what I've seen, it's incredibly common that loading new firmwares can cause old files to longer work. 3DS is definitely known for doing that too, so I'm guessing you might want to try going back to the older version.
Otherwise, it's probably a questions for the CodeX developers
I've heard of that being an issue but that's part of why I'm confused, I'm having the opposite problem. Older files work fine, NEW files give me the invalid file format error. If it was just older files that didn't work I could manage that but at this point I can't print anything newly designed.
And I've tried reverting back to an older firmware version but the way the printer is set up there isn't any way to do it, unfortunately.
