Simplify3d taking long time to start

Hello,
S3D is taking very long to start. It takes more than 5 minutes to start it.
The process shows in the process list instantly but doesn't show any screen.
I tried reinstalling it but that didn't change anything.
I use WIndows 10, s3d 3.1.1.

Re: Simplify3d taking long time to start

I know there's a few threads from other users who had problems when their internet connection was doing funky stuff, so it might help to search for some of those first. Here's one recent one I found with a few suggestions on things to check:

This is also a problem I have. I have a solid 1 Mb download connection so I know it is not the problem. I have sent 2 e-mails to Support but as yet have not had a reply. If this s a bug in their software, I wish they would tell us.

I get the same thing from time to time. My theory is that S3D is trying to phone home when it is opening and their system is slow to respond.

Re: Simplify3d taking long time to start

I was having a similar issue, over time it was taking longer and longer to load. The last time it was taking around 45 seconds to load the application. At first I though that it was because I was storing the source and generated files on a slow network drive. but that turned out not to be the issue. I found that there was a large number of files listed in the G-Code Library under the Machine Control Panel, once I cleared this list, load time returned to normal (Almost instant!!)

So try this and see if it helps.

Goto Tools->Machine Control Panel. Select the G-Code Library and clear the list.

I also noticed that a bunch of the entries had Red exclamation points in front of them. I normally remove the gcode files one printing is done.

Interesting. I'll have to check this out. Mine is very slow opening.
Are the files in the gcode library something from the user or do they just get put there by the software?

Re: Simplify3d taking long time to start

I've just had a look as well…...first time I've opened the control panel for almost two years! And, yes, I also had a humungous list of gcode files.

But not any more! Shall have to see what effect it has on start time.....

Ha, interesting Doug! I haven't opened it either in a few years.
Even though I used to like to watch the part build in the display I finally realized that an SD card was the way to go and now use WIFI SD cards and have never looked back!

Re: Simplify3d taking long time to start

Looked at mine last night and holy cow it was loaded. Deleted everything and now we'll see how it does. Thanks for the tip.
