Top layer disaster even after following guide

Hi,

I am using a Prusa i3 MK2 and used to have good results with Simplify3D. After a while of stopping 3D printing activity I started once again and tried several prints using both Slic3r & Simplify3D. My Slic3r prints come with no top layer issues but my Simplify3D prints have disastrous gaps on the top layer. The top layer looks as if the plastic had melted through. I am printing with Prusa ABS filament and at 10 microns layer height I had 6 top layers and 30% infill and still had this odd behaviour. I do not face this issue when printing from Slic3r. I prefer Simplify3D because it gives me better control over supports.

What exactly did you try from the link below?
https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin ... top-layers

I would increase the number of top solid layers and also make sure you aren't under-extruding, since that will only make things worse

Re: Top layer disaster even after following guide

Ive recently had this exact issue. I found that the following top layers worked extremely well. It might be overkill, but I took the settings directly from Slic3r. I have a I3 Mk2

Layer Thickness Top Layer Bottom

.05 / 15 / 10
.1 / 12 / 10
.15 / 9 / 7
.2 / 6 / 5
.35 / 4 / 3
Try this in S3D

Same issue for me.

Thanks Moniker, this increases of layers on top fix the problem on S3D. :D
