What I am doing wrong? Blobs!

I'm printing a hexagon planter thingy. I'm working with a new filament but am getting smeary-blobs in the pic below. On the start of a movement, beginning at the polygon vertex, there are blobs which smear into the side well (seen in left-to-right movements).

Printing on a CraftBot 2 (direct drive) with Ziro PLA filament. Standard temps for CB2 (215 extrude, 70C glass bed), and default retraction settings in S3D. Retraction on (1, 0, 0, 1800), no coast, no wipe.

Might be a bit hot for one. In general 195-205 and 55-65 is good for PLA.
Retraction settings will help. If you have seen this then take a look it can help.

You might be over extruding a tiny bit also but start with retraction I think.

So do what as far as retraction?

Re: What I am doing wrong? Blobs!

If the print head isn't stopping at the locations of the blobs its not a retraction issue and it is probably over extrusion. When the nozzle reaches those corners its releasing built up pressure. In Process Settings check that your Nozzle Diameter is set correctly, the Extrusion Multiplier is set to 1, Extrusion Width is set to your nozzle diameter. If all that is set correct you can either try speeding up your print or decreasing temperature.

If it is stopping at those points where blobs are make sure that Retraction is enabled first, then make sure Retraction Speed is set according to your printer (the default in my profile was too slow). Retraction distance is variable depending on your printer but with direct drive its probably short, try increasing it by .5mm - 1mm and trying again. If you start under extruding or then the distance is too long. You can also enable Coast at End and play with the value of that but I would try to work out the retraction first if that is the problem.
