Re: Look for help on fine detail distortions

Roguenorm wrote: Sat Mar 31, 2018 6:36 pm So I have been trying to do the exact same thing with my Qidi Tech 1! I've managed to get the settings dialed in pretty well for single extrusion high resolution (0.1 mm) prints without supports. Take a look at the images I've posted here.

I have also attached my factory file. Two things to note with that. 1) the "force retraction between layers" in the Advanced tab is turned on. This may have helped, but also resulted in the the filament getting stripped a lot of times and prints failing. I would turn it off. 2) I was using the right extruder for these prints because my left extruder closer to the fan was having issues. Likely better to switch it to the left extruder.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to use PVA as support for the minis. THAT is not going nearly so well. ;)
Thanks, I'll certainly look into these when I get the chance. I've also been using my right extruder for the minis - i've recently taken to trying and utilize the left extruder for larger scale items in ABS - like dice holders and stuff, or anything where I don't mind if it looks a little less HQ because I just want it to be done and over with. I'll keep here updated as I go.

Not sure why it didn't save both pictures of the Orc (had another one that showed the whole thing), but can attach that one if you want.

Also, had a chance to play with the printer a bunch today, and realized that, like Inigo Montoya, I had to go back to the beginning. I started from the original S3D supplied profile for the Qidi Tech and its PLA (right) PVA (left) materials. I tweaked the settings very slightly for the PLA and printed the benchy at 0.1 mm and it turned out very well. I have attached that factory file here and a picture of benchy. I feel this is a better group of settings for you to be starting from. The key here is levelling the build plate. I have a digital indicator that I use to get exact leveling, and use a 0.4 mm feeler gauge for the distance between the hot end and the bed.
