Taz 5 Aerostruder

I upgraded my Taz 5 with the Aerostruder tool head, and updated the firmware to Marlin 1.1.5.70 as instructed. This all worked fine with Cura, but S3D was unable to communicate with the printer. Looking at the garbled text, it looked like a baud rate error. I changed the baud rate in S3D to 250000, and got communications working, but ultimately, it failed with a CRC error. I then ticked on "Add line numbers and checksums" under Firmware configuration, and that got me past the CRC error. Checking back in Cura, the baud rate is 115000, so I'm not sure why this worked.

Anyhow, after changing the Firmware configuration, I got the message that this should be done in the process setting. Under the G-code tab, I switched the baud rate to 250000, but there wasn't any line number/checksum option to change. Nevertheless, this all seems to be working now with the Aerostruder and it's new firmware.

Does anybody know what's going on here?

Re: Taz 5 Aerostruder

I don't know yet, but I'm ordering a Aerostruder for my Taz 6 and we'll see in a few days... Let me know if you have any updates and I'll do the same. Thanks!

Have you checked with lulzbot to see what baud rate they recommend for that printer and firmware?

Re: Taz 5 Aerostruder

I am also seeing this on 1.1.5.70 (just hexagon toolhead.) I made the changes paulhdietz specified above and I am able to connect. I am going to reach out to S3D and see what they say. Thanks for all the info on this!
