frame rendered as square

A frame model (square with a cutout square) rendered as a square without the cutout for my printrbot simple metal. It rendered correctly for my flashforge creator dual. I've attached screenshots to show the problem.

If you're on WIndows10, run your stl through 3D Builder (ie load & let it auto repair, then save)., if not, try repairing with one of the online repair utilities.

You think my STL needs repair? It is an extremely simple model from fusion 360. I've enclosed the stl file. Can you tell me what is wrong with it or how to find out myself?

Re: frame rendered as square

I'm no expert on the subject.....so I'm not able to say what the problem is, but try the attached file as a replacement for your stl file...and see if it makes any difference.

I loaded it in 3D Builder....which in this case didn't say it had found any error....and then saved it as a .3mf format file.

btw Your stl file sliced perfectly for me using one of my standard profiles.

You also might want to check in the Advanced tab of the Process Settings and make sure that "Merge all outlines into a single solid model" is not checked.

Re: frame rendered as square

It was checked on the printer with the problem and not on the other. I will assume that was the problem. Thanks.

P.S. I'm confused why this option even exists.

That particular setting is intended to be used for models that are not solid when using the vase mode option. For example, if you had a hollow cylinder that you wanted to print with one continuous perimeter like vase mode allows for then you would check this box to make sure that vase mode will work as intended.
