Possible first layer setting issues and using rafts

I am currently using the new 4.1 so I have not tested this on 4.01.

I have tried to use rafts and never had any luck. I never could peel them off, even after going up to .25mm separation distance. I have a Prusa i3 MK3. A friend of mine has the same printer and no issues with rafts with same brand filament (eSun). One thing that was different is that I use a .5mm width and he uses a .4mm width. When I changed mine to .4mm width the raft came right off. I like using .5mm because it speeds up the time on larger prints. So my thinking was that I could keep using .5mm width and set the first layer width to 80% which would equal .4mm. I tried and the raft would not separate. Does this mean the 80% is not truly calculating correctly? Or do all my bottom layers need to be .4mm? Or does the .5mm width effect the raft as well and if so, is there a raft width setting?

Re: Possible first layer setting issues and using rafts

After thinking through this I think I have my answer. For some reason I had it in my head the first layer would be the one on top of the raft. But first layer is the first layer that hits the bed. I have been doing so much testing that I think my brain went dead. So when the first layer of my print was laid down it was back at the .50mm. I am still not sure why .50mm would keep me from removing the raft but .40 works fine.

You can also increase separation layer amount. Sometimes 2 is not enough but wit 3 is easy to peel it off ;)
