4.11 has graphical issues

Yesterday I loaded Simplify3D and it informed me that a new version was available and asked if I'd like to install. So I did.

it looks like I was on v3.11 and upgraded to v4.11 but now the 3D graphics when placing the models is messed up.

here is how it looks in 3.11:

here is how it looks in 4.11:

various walls are missing or displaying in an incorect order and it appears that the grid line texture on the build platform is also missing.

I'm running an older lenovo laptop with intel/onboard graphics, but I don't have any problems running SolidWorks 2017 or any of my other 3D software.

Re: 4.11 has graphical issues

Hi,

my HP Elitebook2540p is also not the youngest and i am facing simmilar issue.
If you deactivate hardware acceleration then you can see the grid again. Don't know what has changed from prev. version to this in terms of acceleration, but if fixed mine.
But i hope there will be a fix, because no hardware acceleration sounds not nice...
In Options you can define it...give it a try

Re: 4.11 has graphical issues

it looks like my "acceleration mode" was set to "automatic"

setting it to "native hardware acceleration" results in a completely black window.
setting it to "compatibility mode" has the same problems as before (this must be what automatic was selecting)
setting it to "disable hardware acceleration" improved it quite a bit but my models are still missing features that flash in and out of visibility depending on the viewing angle.... it's also quite sluggish. :-/

Re: 4.11 has graphical issues

Is there no other solution to my graphical issues? or are my options to either buy a new Computer and hope it works or simply not use the new version of S3D?

Re: 4.11 has graphical issues

See if you can update the graphics driver on the laptop. The on-board video cards for laptops are pretty basic so this is really what is limiting you.

Adding memory to the laptop may help some since the on-board video card shares the system memory.

Also see about disabling any other programs using resources while you need to use S3D.

Make sure you remove anything from the desktop that is not a true "Icon" or shortcut. Things like folders, zip files, picture files etc.
The computer has to redraw the desktop every time you make the slightest move and this also hogs resources.

Re: 4.11 has graphical issues

I had this same problem on Lenovo T410 running Windows 10. It was using the Intel video drivers. In the Device Manager I changed to the Generic Windows driver and the problem went away. BTW version 3.1 did not exhibit this issue with either driver.
