Vertical grey object that shows up in print preview mode

Can someone tell me what the pencil like, vertical grey object is that shows up in print preview mode? Usually hovering directly over an object. Just learning the program.

It sounds like you are referring to the Toolhead indicator. This is present in Preview Mode by default to show the user where the printhead is during a particular print file. It can be toggled on and off by using the Toolhead checkbox found in the "Show in Preview" options on the left. Please let me know if you have any other questions about the software!
