Better Ooze management through dedicated Global value: filament profile data

I would like to see some dedicated global values added that are 100% independent of any processes or profiles. But perhaps maybe still tweak able or over ridden from said Processes.

In particular I feel that the greater market ignores many things regarding filament that are important and while some times specific to a machine may also be global values. In this case I would like to generate a profile, for a filament. For each color too. Why you might ask would any one waste their time with such a complex piece of data? Because we already are. But nothing offers a tool to collect and make use of it. In particular, ooze rates based chosen installed hardware, and chosen filament but bound to the Filament profile. A chart of temps, how much oozed out, how long it took, was there any retraction. Color of the material. Tip installed. Basically we are establishing an expected rate of expansion for this particular material, over a spectrum of temps and hardware configurations. Color maters, well for preview screen but also because any good maker knows the additives from brand to brand are not the same, and the colorants can alter material behavior. So per one material, there may be attached several compiled charts of data from each extruder configuration, and each tip, but fully link able to the printer in use via the chosen process. I would like S3D to utilize the collected expansion data to offer an automatic Retract and Restore as well as management of the material in an intelligent way that minimizes or eliminates oozing.

Material profile should also include Min Max feed rates per material. Min max retraction per material.

This profile might also store statistical data about this filament. How many times it was used, how many feet, or yards consumed, estimate of total costs etc.

I hope the concept makes sense.

Great idea! The implementation of this type of automated extrusion settings adjustments would obviously require a large amount of testing and data collection on hundreds of different printers. I'll forward your request to our development team for review.

Re: Better Ooze management through dedicated Global value: filament profile data

It would be great if it was done, for us by S3D. But it might be made simpler by leaving this as a optional ,use at own risk, in development feature. Lets us populate the charts with test results from our own machines and filaments. Now later at the option of the user, S3D may download that data and see if it can be used to generate integrated anti oozing profiles. Up front we would be responsible for generating the test data and our own individual Filament extruder setup ooze profiles.
