Extruder Multiplier vs Extrusion Width

Hi All,
Just playing around with my printer tonight. I found a website on how to calibrate extruder Esteps. Mine ended up been 4.4mm under extruding.

Now the particular site I learnt this off then goes to say print a test cube with a single wall. He was using a .4mm nozzle and had the default of auto selected for the extrusion width which is .48mm
The he mentioned to set the extruder multiplier until the single wall thickness prints and measures the extrusion width.

Well that all went well, until I decided to test the cube with 4 wall, now the walls are not connecting properly.

Am I missing something or should the extruder multiplier just be set to where the walls are at least connection properly with no visible gap in the print?

First time im trying to calibrate the printer since purchase

Re: Extruder Multiplier vs Extrusion Width

do not use S3d for calibration! S3d cannot print 1 wall, there will actually be two of them.

Re: Extruder Multiplier vs Extrusion Width

It was only running around the perimeter once and not twice while I was watching it?
With calibrated extruder and the extrusion multiplier set to 1.0 im getting a single printed wall thickness of 0.63mm
