Licence V4 to V5

Hello,

user of the V4 , I planed to update to V5.
The V4 licence can be used on two computers. and I have two machines with S3D at two locations / different printers ( my house and my worshop). it seems that the next V5 licence is for one computer only :(
Could you confirm:
- That I could'nt upgrade my two V4 licenced computers simultaneously to V5
- That I could update one of my computer in V5 and keep the other one in V4
- That a V4 machine is able to operate V5 Gcode

Tanks for your responses in advance
Regards

- V5 has an entirely new licensing system compared to V4. There are options for floating and offline licenses, in addition to improvements in managing and deploying the licenses. For all of the V5 license types you can only use the software on 1 computer at a time. If you have several computers, the new floating license may be a nice options since it seamlessly moves between computers without any manual work on your end.

- That I could update one of my computer in V5 and keep the other one in V4
- V4 can be installed and used alongside V5. So both of your V4 installs can remain.

- That a V4 machine is able to operate V5 Gcode
- V5 is backwards compatible with V4. The V4 machine control panel will be able to send G-Code files to V4 compatible 3D printers. It shouldn't matter where the G-Code file was created. For instance, you could already send a Cura generated G-Code file through V4's machine control panel to a printer.

Why are we not getting our promised free upgrade? It was not our issue that caused the SIGNIFICANT delays getting the update out.... Some of us were specifically told we would get an upgrade to V5. That is why I bought my second license.... This is kind of bad form. I did buy my upgrade for my old license but feel I shouldn't have to for the newer one.

It appears that a v5 factory file will not open in v4 version. This is a real problem for our workflow. It renders the upgrade absolutely worthless for us. We need to be able to create and use on both machines. This will be a dealbreaker for many users who already have a working workflow with 2 installs.

My thoughts EXACTLY. 2 years ago, 2020-08-14, when I bought my license, one of the pivotal reasons for making the decision was the free upgrade to v5. I was told it would be within the year. LIAR.

For ANY company to not honor its word and its promise to its users is simply unforgivable. Then to add fuel to the fire you expect me to Pay 60 BUCKS for the upgrade? A whopping $10 discount is the only thing you do? You have got to be completely INSANE.

1. Your "new" product is feature poor compared with the other options (which there are MANY) out there.
2. Users bought your product with the promise of a free upgrade, which you are NOT HONORING.
3. There is absolutely NOTHING that is innovative or unique to your product that I can't get elsewhere.
4. Using your product now would be a DOWNGRADE in both ease of use and in feature availability.
5. For the past 2 years your tech support for current paid users has been an absolute GHOST.

Why now, do you expect me to go back to using your product and give you my hard earned money? You have done NOTHING in over 2 years to earn my trust and financial support as an end user.
Joel Telling asked in his latest video about your product whether your ship has sailed...
I say it has not just sailed, it has sunk on a greater scale than the Titanic.
Thanks, but no thanks, Jake....

C'mon. You can't just pretend the last three years never happened. It's just not OK on any level.

You can't charge proper upgrade prices for V5, you haven't been a proper company.

You can't offer less licenses for V5 than you did for V4, it's quite simply untenable.

It will not work. On any level.

Charge $20 for upgrading to V5, and then give customers proper support, bug fixes, feature upgrades, etc, and do it with a smile, for at least six months, and then maybe you can ask for more for 5.2 or 5.5.

You exist in the real world. In the real world, you have done nothing but promise things that you haven't delivered, for more than TWO YEARS.

But we are just supposed to believe that you will now be different, and just pay full price for an upgrade that AT BEST brings you to feature parity with current free software?

Simply, no.

To abruptly decide to remove one of the two seats on a V4 license is a deal breaker for me. That was a really rotten thing to do.
As I can't trust that you will continue to validate V4 installs I'm forced to look at alternatives.

I tend to feel the same. I was considering upgrading as I do like S3D but I use v4 on two machines. My desktop to configure and prepare for printing and another laptop connected to my printers via USB. I can currently upload the factory file from the desktop to the "live" machine and then kick off a print - even if I'm not home. To double the already not inconsiderable price arbitrarily seems like kicking us while we're down.

Re: Licence V4 to V5

Are you absolutely kidding me? I specifically bought the last version ages ago due to the promise of a "free upgrade" when it came out, and now, after literal years of silence, they have the audacity to charge for the 'free' upgrade? Not only a small charge but a 'discounted' upgrade that's still $60? AND they take away a seat? No, that is completely unacceptable. Literally the only reason I purchased this software was based on this bull.
