Re: Licence V4 to V5

Yeah I am in the same boat I got mine on the 06-06-2019 towards the end of 2019 they said they were close to the release of V5 which I thought cool I have 6 months left on my Year of free updates and here we are 3 years later and haven't received any update what so ever.

So to think of spending more money on this seems to be a silly thing to do. As I spent $149 on the 4.1 I will stay using that I feel ripped off once, So I am not about to fund the next iteration of simplify3d.

Thanks But No thanks S3D.

Re: Licence V4 to V5

Typical bullshit we knew was going to happen. I’ve had my version for over 4 years with absolutely dead silence on this forum board for almost every inquiry. A year ago, after absolutely no support I switched to Cura, (oh did I forget to mention that it’s free and has open support )
and it has been wonderful. Why would anyone stick with this half ass company. For all you know you will pay for the upgrade and then watch this outfit go by the wayside after it fleeces all the customers it can, like FTX!
Go to Cura, Prusa or another reputable company.

Re: Licence V4 to V5

No way am i gonna pay for an upgrade (wich is far to late any way!!!) only to loose an extra seat.
Like so many before me i thought buying the software ensured free upgrades on par with the latest technolegies.
I think S3D has lost his market to the free slicers (i am currently using superslicer, wich does a great job) and have lost the attention and interrest of his customers.
for me as an engineer S3D V4 is stil good enough with free slicers as a backup.

Re: Licence V4 to V5

The reduction in activations is an upgrade deal breaker for me.

Hope you are able to find new customers. It is now a much more competitive market than it was when you last released anything.

So long and thanks for all the pish.

Comparing Simplify3d to Cura or Prusaslicer is unfair. Ultimaker and Prusa make their money from high-priced printers. You can get free software there. A company that wants to make a living from producing software like Simplify3d doesn't have it easy. We're all spoiled for getting free software everywhere, but we pay a different price for being dependent on Google etc, although many don't realize it.

I upgraded from v4 to v5 and I’m not seeing any option for the floating license. I’m really starting to regret getting this upgrade.

Re: Licence V4 to V5

Under V4 I have a single licence with the software installed and activated on two separate machines. One is Mac OS where all design work and print prep is done. The other is Win10 and used only for file transfer from my WiFi network to the printer and machine control.

How does the "floating" licence work? If I upgrade my current single licence to V5 will I still be able to have a Mac OS install and a Windows 10 install?

That's it for me as well, i upgrade my V4 purchased in 2014 for a lot of money at the time and watched the updates stagnate and the software fall behind, i was excited to see the upgrade and would have been upset but understanding of an upgrade price.

but making only use it on 1 computer is out of the question

I just requested a refund and a revert to my original V4 license, they will have to find new users to the V5 my quick look at it even had the dumbest errors like the Power lights for extruded and bed not even working right in the machine control panels not to mention the migration wizard failing to import anything from V4.

Certainly not worth it to me to pay 120 dollars US converted to CAD for two licenses to make V5 work exactly like my existing V4 - on two computers, the floating license seems like it still only allows 1 computer at a time.

I bought my license 2020 with the promise of an update, but nothing happened... Good by!
