Slicing the object is pretty fast but after Slicing for any object, the rotation, pan, zoom in&out is not working at all. It is like playing 3D games at 5 frames/second in 1995.
Is there any solution coming in the next updates?
We have quite a few Apple M-series computers in our office, and I can't say we have experienced the behavior you are describing on any of them. I also have not seen other customers reporting the same issue you are describing "for any object" like you described. I know that if you try to load an extremely large model it can sometimes slow down the rendering, but that should not happen for any simple object.
Have you tried slicing a simplified part to see if the rendering is faster? If you keep having issues, maybe you can post the exact factory file for your print so that we can test it on other M1 computers in our office.
I agree, very small parts are working somehow but parts bigger than 100x100x100mm are lagging already.
Slicing the same objects on CURA is not a problem. I like S3D better than CURA and I like Apple better than Windows but it seems that I need to purchase a Windows machine to be able to work with S3D properly... How much RAM does your m1 machines have?
Unfortunately more users have the same experience on the M1.
If a modell is small it is okay, but otherwise it's unusable and in this cases (big cad) I prefer to use another slicer (surprise, it's free !). I used to be a big fan of Simplify, but it's halfway ceasing to be true....
One of those posts is just asking for a native Apple silicon build of Simplify3D, which was one of the big features we added in Version 5.1. That already improved performance significantly on Apple machines, so that feature request was already fulfilled.
Like I said, we have a large number of Apple silicon Macs in our office, including a few with only 8 GB of RAM (same as you), but we aren't seeing the same behavior. Can you please attach a factory file showing the print that displays the issue? Does the problem occur in the regular 3D model view or only in the Preview mode?
Read my first post pls. After slicing it is a problem und you can read this on other posts or watch it on YouTube. And you can say it is my Mac only and no-one else has this problem and all is good.....
I just tested that file on some Macs with even lower specs than yours and the preview was as quick as I would expect. No issues rotating or panning around.
Is there any change you have any other graphics driver software installed that might be interfering with things? Anything else that might be different between your machine and the M1 or M2 Macs we have in our office with the same amount of RAM?
