Re: Tip of the Day 22 - BFB 3D Touch, CubeX, RapMan & CubePr

What you want to do is set up two processes, both using the CubePro Dual profile. Then in the first process make sure in the layer, additions, infill, and support (if you're using support) tab have the first extruder selected. Hit select models and choose what model(s) you want to print with the first extruder, and then in the second process do the exact same thign, except for the second extruder

Re: Tip of the Day 22 - BFB 3D Touch, CubeX, RapMan & CubePr

Here are my profiles for my cube-pro duo.

Please note--these are set for ABS (black) in extruder 1 and PLA(natural) in Extruder 2. It is very important to set the correct material in the SCRIPTS-STARTING GCODE tab. The printer doesn't like starting if the materials are set wrong.

These lines tell the machine what is loaded. The CARTRIDGES ALSO tell the machine. If they don't match in color only, the machine will warn you but continue to print. If they don't match in type, it will not print.
The lines below are ABS in E1 and PLA in E2. (E3 is not present).
^MaterialCodeE1:259
^MaterialCodeE2:214
^MaterialCodeE3:-1

The numbers I've gathered as follows are:
RED ABS:252
WHITE ABS: 250
BLACK ABS: 259
NAT PLA: 214.

Feel free to update this if you have more!

The attached files for single material prints are pretty good--just stick to the speeds and extrusion width set by the presets! The extrusion speed is NOT updated when you change speeds or extrusion width.
(feel free to update temp, though!)

If you do change the materials, every time you change the preset for print quality, you will need to change them again. If you edit the FFF file, you'll see that you must change them in 4 places to avoid having to do this.

The Dual material profile is still very much experimental. When last attempted it was only working when changing from extruder 1 to extruder 2. Feel free to play with it, though... its pretty close!

Re: Tip of the Day 22 - BFB 3D Touch, CubeX, RapMan & CubePr

Hi, I am from Germany we use Cubepro duo printer in the company,
we load cubepro_ex1 profil and print with ABS good print, we use Cubepro_ex2 for PLA change temp. 210c.
I print a cube 30x30mm after 10mm height the filament stuck in the extruder and the print stops.
Any idea???

Re: Tip of the Day 22 - BFB 3D Touch, CubeX, RapMan & CubePr

I got what I assumed to be a bad cartridge of PLA--the CubePro software wouldn't print without filament errors (and lots of "blobbing" prior to that). Slowing it down with Simplify also didn't yield good results (still got jams and filament error).

Tried again using simplify and 250C for the temperature and it seemed to work. This is quite hot for PLA, but it did work.

Re: Tip of the Day 22 - BFB 3D Touch, CubeX, RapMan & CubePr

hi
i also have the cubepro duo. if have tryed the ex1 profile with abs.
its way better then with the original software ;-)
here you can see the different ( black cubepro software, red simplify 3D, printed in ABS ):

two things im not sure about:

1. in the config file there is a z-offset with 0.1. is this necessary for the cubepro or can i set it to 0 ( my buildplate is well levled )?
2. when i work with a raft, then the layer between raft and part is sticking to good and i cant completly remove this layer. is there a option in the software
for fine-tunning this?

Andy - nice looking prints! That looks a ton better than the stock software! I'm not sure about the Z-offset, but for the raft you can just increase the raft separation distance (see the Additions tab). That allows it to separate a lot easier.

Re: Tip of the Day 22 - BFB 3D Touch, CubeX, RapMan & CubePr

We are printing fine with no z-offset here. I believe all the z-gap cube-pro files DO include the offset, so be wary when using them to determine that you're dialed in.

If its working for you, don't change anything--your print looks very good!
If you see some "scars" on your build plate because you're dragging the nozzle across the bed, you may want to add back the offset.

You might also see some filament errors because the extruder nozzle is too close to the bed to push out any plastic. If you're not seeing either of these, leave the offset at zero.

Re: Tip of the Day 22 - BFB 3D Touch, CubeX, RapMan & CubePr

hi thanks for feedback

the first layer is a bit to far from the printbed. so i have set the offset to 0.05 and now it works fine.
i have done the nextprint, with rafts and support:

i must say simplify 3d just unleash my cubepro ;-)

thanks to @MichaelHerron for the profile!

I wonder how many people with a CubePro even realize that there is other software they can use...

Thought it came out nicely!
