Retraction Vertical Lift modifying printing height

When I try adding say .6mm in my retraction vertical lift setting S3D adds that amount to my first layer z height? So if I'm wanting my first layer to be .3mm thick it actually makes it .9mm for the first layer. Is there a work around for this? I need Z retracts for this part I'm printing.

I'm using S3d 4.0.0

Re: Retraction Vertical Lift modifying printing height

I'm using 4.0.1 and my first layers, even when using huge lifts like 1mm, I still have all my print moves printed at the correct height.

Are you seeing this in your prints or just the preview window's reporting of the Z position? I have noticed that when using retraction vertical lift along with preview by layer rathe than by line, the Z height reported is that of the last Z move in the layer, which would of course be the lifted height and not the actual layer's printed height.

Re: Retraction Vertical Lift modifying printing height

I'm actually using 4.0.1. My issue is actually in the Gcode file. The first layer is trying to print at .9mm high. If I turn off the retraction vertical lift then my first later is at .3mm which is what I wanted.

It's got to be a bug? No one else noticed this yet?

I've not seen this happen to me. Can you attach your factory file?

Yes I will attach it later tonight when I get home. Maybe I have something else set wrong?

Read this thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10274&p=42273&hilit=vertical#p42273

In particular the posts made by me.

If you understand what I have posted, you'll understand there is no bug! And you have nothing set wrong.

Re: Retraction Vertical Lift modifying printing height

Yeah it was my bad on that one. I looked father down in the gcode file and saw that the program starts out at the retract Z height and then drops to the correct height when the printing starts.

All is well.
