Monoprice Ultimate Excessive Retraction at Start of Print

I have the Monoprice Maker Ultimate (MMU) purchased last January. I have generally had good success with the printer once I "finished building" it due to several issues and design problems.

One thing that bothers me is all the files I generate using S3D cause a very large retraction just prior to the start of the print job. This occurs after the nozzle is primed and before the wipe function is executed. It takes about 3" of travel of the nozzle to get any material deposited on the build surface.

The filament is retracted somewhere between 11mm & 13mm

The sample files included on SD card with the printer do not do this, only files created with S3D.

Under the OTHER tab I saw a Tool Change Retraction of 12mm, I set this to nearly 0mm and see no change.

I think you must have a look at the scripts tab, under starting script..not under the others tab..thats for tool change retraction and not for starting scripts

Well It is fixed, but I have NO IDEA why. Hopefully the S3D people can weigh in. Here is what I did...

I deleted the entire Startup Script and added it back in one line at a a time, creating a G Code file after each line was added and then ran the file. The files (10 of them) ran as expected right up to the end. I will mention (which is important later) I was lazy and did NOT type in the comments.

The final run started and ran as expected with no adverse amount of retraction. The script had a retraction of 1.5mm which was a little bit much, which I changed to 0.5mm. Printing started immediately.

So, what is it about the comments (only difference) that would make the machine work correctly without them?
