Windows updated now software won't open

My windows did an auto update and now the program won't open. I had 4 files open in 4 different windows and I went to get dinner and returned to all of them closed. When I reopened the program it opens for about 3 seconds and then dissapears. Every time I try to open it does the same thing. The only way I could get to open is if I open as an admin. I installed the updated 4.0.1 same thing. I uninstalled and reinstalled, same thing. My computer is two months old and has plenty of power, ram, vid card. Ideas?

Re: Windows updated now software won't open

Can you please try the following steps?

Open a Windows Explorer window.
In the current file path bar type in %temp% and press enter
In the same bar click local (this takes you back a single step in the folder hierarchy)
Navigate into Simplify3D folder and then S3D-Software folder
Delete the file titled "savedState.factory"

I also just started having an issue with S3D refusing to open until a machine restart.

Open it ok, working in it and close it then it refuses to re-open until another machine restart.

I have had a similar problem and it seems like a UAC issue. Right clicking S3D and selecting Run as Administrator works for me (even though the current user is a Local Administrator).

Deleting the savedstate.factory works until I try to import a model. It starts the import then immediately closes and creates another "savedstate.factory".
Deleting again just repeated the process.
What else can I try?
