Long travel paths

Hi,

is there an option where i can set the travel paths more efficient?
When i print something it jumps from right to left and forward and back with no sense.
This generates a lot of thin threads, and also takes much longer.

thanks,

Re: Long travel paths

Make sure you have it set for most efficient start points under the layer tab. If you have it set to Random, it will do what you describe.

You also probably have the "Retraction " setting turned off for travel interior to the part. Not sure exact name but I think it is on the "other" tab. I turn mine on because I don't like the wispy lines all through my part interiors.

Re: Long travel paths

Hi,

i have the most efficent start points selected and the retracion is active. Maybe i was not clear enogh.
One part i want to print has 4 holes in it like this

1 -------------- 2
3 -------------- 4

Its a Square and the holes are on each corner. Now it travels to 1 then it goes to 4 back to 3 and 2. But the fastes way was 1-3 -4 -2. How can i do that?
And even with the retraction active it sometimes drips a bit so there are thin lines of filament all over the pice.

thanks

Re: Long travel paths

There is no way to control the machine paths as far as I can tell. I just sent an email about being able to have all perimeters printed for one model at the same time vs doing all of the first perimeters then the second and then the third with tons of rapid moves done over and over. It would be nice if you could select that and it would cut down majorly on stringing.
