I'm having some trouble with support structures falling over mid-print. This obviously causes a problem when the time comes to print the section that was supposed to be supported. Any tips on settings I can adjust to keep the supports stable?
If you have a single support structure that will need to be very tall, I use a skirt. This will affect all part but it is not that hard to remove from the finished part. Under the additions tab, click use skirt/brim, skirt layer 1, Skirt Offset 0, Skirt outline 6.
This will make 6 rings around where the support will be placed with all rings touching each other. That last part assume you have starting height and extrusion set properly.
The other setting is in the support tab, set support base layers to 4-5
Good luck, working with support takes time an experience as it is model dependent and more of an art form than science.
Does the skirt add any thickness to the base the same way a raft does? I've been experimenting with rafts and they help, but leave some base thickness that can cause a problem with more detailed models.
Thank you for the suggestions so far! I'll try it.
The skirt will be one layer high if you enter those values and be around the first layer of everything touching the build plate. You will need to cut/break it off the part but it will not take all day to build like a raft does.
