Dark part on build plate, wont generate support

does anyone know why this model is showing up dark in my build platform. The model also wont use automatic supports and it should be taking them. I can add manual supports but both using in process and manual supports based on angle it wont generate them. Ideas?

in the main window go to Repair, and that looks like Flipped Triangles to me, but mess around with the repair options and it should fix it.
