Unable to Manually Remove Supports

In the picture as indicated by arrows are two "pockets" in my part that fill with supports.
I use Support Generation to add supports however I want to remove most of the supports in the pockets leaving only the rows closest to the "bright yellow" area.
I can not do this since there is solid material from the part above the supports. Second picture.

I know I can not generate supports but rather manually add them but on most pieces that is just not a good option when you really only need to remove a small number and since there can be numerous supports in other areas.

Is there any way to do this?

This has been an issue with S3D for a long time now.

Re: Unable to Manually Remove Supports

I have the same problem and the cross-sectional view does not solve the problem
