Printing in air when infill rate is low

Hey everyone,

I got some problems when I try to print structures which have a solid layer but more structure on other parts of the object. The edges of the solid layer will connect to the perimeters on the outside, but will just be printed in the air on the inside. Is there any way to change the program easily so that the solid layer is printed over the whole object and the following structure is printed on top of that solid layer?
See attachments for visualisation ;)

Best regards,

Max

Re: Printing in air when infill rate is low

This is a real and genuine issue with S3D that has been reported as a bug on many occasions, and even raised as an improvement request. Needless to say, nothing has been forthcoming...…

There are at least two threads I have contributed to that feature this issue…..and I currently too tired to spend time searching for them to link them to this thread and vice versa.

I believe one of the suggested solutions was to extend the area of the solid infill so as to align with the support and/or outline of the layer below....thus giving something for the infill to attach to.
