Build table preview blank

I've been using the software for a few weeks and really haven't had any complaints other than one..

9 times out of 10, the build table preview and the build envelope shows up no problem, but every now and then it will just disappear without any interaction from me. I've tried selecting different view types, remove and importing new models, nothing works, EXCEPT restarting the program. That is also not a guaranteed fix either. Sometimes the build table disappears from the preview immediately after the program launches and the window opens, sometimes it takes a few minutes/hours.

This issue is really driving me nuts now and i'd like to know if its me (i'm pretty sure its not as i don't even have to touch the computer for it to happen) or if this is some sort of bug or feature that keeps you from screwing up something..lol

I have yet to experience this with s3d, on Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. It sounds like a video issue, have you tried updating your graphics driver to the latest version? I recommend downloading the latest version from the Manufacturer's website (i.e. NVidia or AMD) and not from Window's automatic driver search option. There may be an updated driver that fixes a possible intermittent rendering bug, worth a shot!

It looks like the position of your "camera" may be off. Try using the keyboard shortcut:

Code: Select all

CTRL + D
to get the camera back to default angle. If I Pan my camera away from the build plate I can get the same screen:

Nope, no change

Re: Build table preview blank

Hi All,

Did anyone find a solution to this as I found after running Simplify 3D for less than a week I am now having this problem?
While everything else runs fine on my older laptop (Sony VAIO, Win 7 Home Prem, 64bit) it is just Simplify 3D starting give this problem.
Many thanks in advance for any insight and useful suggestions.
Kind regards,

This is a pretty old thread, but I would recommend updating your graphics drivers first. Go to the ATI/Nvidia website and make sure you have the latest version. Don't trust the "check for update" tool in the drivers, as this never seems to be accurate. Go check manually on their website.

You can also try going to Tools --> Options, click the visualization tab and make sure that the option called "Show build table in virtual environment" is checked. You might also want to try checking "use legacy graphics mode" on that same screen.

Re: Build table preview blank

I had the same problem. After starting up the software the building platform and the object for printing was visible. After the software had recognized the printer the screen turned blue and the object en building platform was gone.
I solved it by going to - tools/options/visualization
There I checked all options except the first one and the object was visible again...
