both 4.1.2 and 5.0 take minutes to start up

takes minutes (5+) for 4.1.2 or 5.0 to start... no cpu usage, no network usage ... just waiting waiting and then they pop up into existence .. sometimes they start immediately but in most cases more than 5 minutes

Re: both 4.1.2 and 5.0 take minutes to start up

If you get rid of all the S3D data (Help > Reset All Settings), does the startup time get any lower? You can backup your profiles and factory files first before running that step, but it's a good way to rule out any existing data being the cause for the slowdown.

We have also seen some customers that had an antivirus program that did a full scan of the software every time they opened it, so that's another potential cause. Finally, I know some customers had very elaborate networks that bounced packets around through multiple relays and sometimes caused the slow startup as well.

nope, resetted everything, cleared progfiles/profiles, same thing... cpu usage is zero, and it is not always the case, sometimes is starts instantly but in most cases it waits a while. started with 4.1.2 too when you released 5.0 ... looks like it's trying to contact auth server and wait for some timeout or ... I tried killing firewall and killing antivirus, nothing changed .. identical behavior for 4 and 5 and started after 5 was released... did you change anything on your auth server that could cause this? overload due to ppl remembering s3d exist and trying to use it?

I have kasperski - turned it off
I have complex network at home but my network did not change a bit in past year so nothing wrt my network can be related to you releasing 5.0 and 4.1 started having issues :D but I did turn off firewall, connected desktop directly to the wan - no changes

Re: both 4.1.2 and 5.0 take minutes to start up

Nothing changed with the V4 server or software, so if that is also acting slow that certainly suggests something else external is causing the slowdown. You said you have a complex network at home - we have definitely seen other customers with complex networks where that was the cause of the slow startup behavior. What about trying to connect your computer to an entirely different network that does not have all of that complexity to see if it opens faster?

I connected my computer directly to the router, got public IP on my windows (very unsecure :D ) - same issue

I connected my computer using mobile network, super simple setup, modem, nat, my computer - same issue

it does not happen "non stop" but I just measured,
starting 4.1.2 - 57 seconds
closed it
starting again: 55 seconds
closed
during startup it was using 0% cpu and 26MB ram

starting 5.0 - done in 7 seconds
closed
starting again - done 2 seconds
closed (downloading 5.0.1)

starting 4.1.2: 55 seconds
closed it

so for e.g. this morning 4.1.2 takes ~minute to start and 5.0 is up in few seconds, yesterday both took over a minute to start, day before 4.1.2 was instant and 5.0 took minuts to start ..

dunno when this started, I did not start 4.1.2 for more than a year, was started after year+ when 5.0 arrived

Re: both 4.1.2 and 5.0 take minutes to start up

installed 5.0.1, after installation "start" clicked, after 10 minutes did not start, killed it, started it again, 5 minutes and counting, still not started, using 5.1% cpu and 20.4mb ram (so not the same as 4.1.2 that uses 0% cpu while starting)
