Gyroid Infill Crashes V5

I have a large part I am trying to slice. If I set Gyroid infill to anything over 15% infill it crashes V5.

I need a heavy infill that won't contribute to warping or lifting from the bed. I am using TPU.

Any chance that you can provide your .factory file? I wouldn't mind playing around with it to see if it
crashes on my machine as well.

Cheers,

Customer file so can't share.
Only did this on gyroid and another type. Other such as rectilinear are fine.

No problem. Totally understand the no-share. :D What about a .factory file with no model included?

How big is the model that you're trying to slice?

Model is large. 300 X 180 X 120. It seems to be the Sinusoidal and Gyroid that do it so far. So I think it is the infills with the more exotic patterns. More mathematically complex.
All other settings are pretty routine.

Cool. Thanks for that info.

Re: Gyroid Infill Crashes V5

I did some testing today using gyroid on a lot of large parts, but wasn't able to reproduce any crashes. It's possible it might be something specific to the model, or other settings that are interacting with the infill.

Let us know if you are able to find a factory file that you can share.

Re: Gyroid Infill Crashes V5

Sinusoidal also crashes it when set above 15%.
There are no odd settings or anything complex. simple straight forward print.
The crash takes place while it is "parsing build file".
The green progress bar gets to the end and it acts like it is about to display the resulting slice and the program closes.
I tried "wiggle" at 45% and it finishes but it does not display the resulting slice. The data is there but no image of the sliced part. The bed is empty.
It also crashes V5. I am running 501.

Here is a factory with a simulated part that represents the actual part.

Re: Gyroid Infill Crashes V5

You could try going to Tools > Options, and disable the "Automatically load preview after slicing" option. That way you can try to export the gcode without loading the preview at all.

From looking at the build, I would definitely suggest using a different pattern if you want to use this high of an infill percentage. Gyroid is really best when you are doing lower infill percentage like 5-10%. For higher values like 40-50% it isn't really offering much benefit. You're just creating a massive gcode file when something like rectilinear would provide the same strength. Massive gcode files with 50 million+ movements require a lot of GPU resources to render, so I suspect you are just running out of resources.

Thanks but the reason for these types, is infill types like rectilinear or others that connect to walls with straight lines are causing issues with the print lifting at the corners and edges due to the increased stresses from the infill contracting as it cools and pulling on the walls.

I am running on a very powerful computer with more than ample GPU power. I really need to be able to visualize the infill at various percents to be able to decide what to go with.
