Dual Extrusion Heat Problem

I am trying to print a fairly large object in two colors, and the problem I am having is that while the first extruder is working the second extruder is just along for the ride, cooking the PVA the whole time. Ive tried everything i can think of to cool the idle extruder while the hot one works, and then reverse the process but i cannot get it to work. Is this something that can be done? There is a nasty blob that comes out whenever the printhead changes, ruining the print.

If you place a skirt around your part in the PVA, that would keep it active throughout the print. You can set the skirt layers to 9999, and select which extruder is used for the skirt (new feature in 2.2 )
